Housecall for Health: Women & Wine

Those middle-aged women who enjoy having a glass of wine with dinner may find a healthy benefit to their habit.

FOX News Radio’s Kirstin McNary reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”:

You know what they say – “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.”  And, apparently, so does one alcoholic drink a day for middle-aged women.

According to a major study by the Harvard School of Public Health, women over 50 who consume a single drink 5-to-7 days a week are more likely to enjoy good health in old age.  In fact, the study found the odds of “successful aging” increased 50% for those who indulged in just one cocktail a day, compared to non-drinkers.
