Dogs may be a man’s best friend, but a new study shows they could also help save your life.

A study published in the European Respiratory Journal found that dogs can be trained to sniff out early signs of lung cancer on the breath of humans.  Canines can pick up on organic compounds linked to the presence of cancer, and in a trial correctly identified 71% of those people with the disease.

Experts say this is a big step forward in the diagnosis of lung cancer.
