By a vote of 269 to 161, the House has passed the Bill to raise the debt limit.

95 Democrats said YES, 95 Democrats said NO

174 Republicans said YES, 66 Republicans said NO

The Senate is expected to vote Tuesday morning.

Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords voted on the House Floor for the first time since being shot in January.  She voted YES to the measure.

President Obama announced Sunday night from the White House briefing room that an agreement was reached to raise the debt limit and thwart the first Government default in U.S. History.

As the Senate opened its session Monday, the debt ceiling took center stage on the floor even before legislative business began.

Rear Adm. Barry Black, the Senate's Chaplain, delivered the opening prayer, asking for the Senators to find strength and cooperation in resolving the debt crisis...

Vice President Joe Biden met Monday with the Senate and House Democratic Caucuses, looking for enough votes to pass the deal reached over the weekend.
