Housecall for Health: Shrunken Brains

New research finds the human brain gets smaller with age.

FOX’s Colleen Cappon explains in today’s “Housecall for Health”…

Muscles and bones aren’t the only things that shrink with age.

A new study from the National Academy of Sciences shows that the human brain can shrink up to 15% as it ages.  Researchers concluded that only humans are afflicted by this decrease in brain size – not even our closest animal relatives, chimpanzees, hold the trait.

The change is linked to dementia, poor memory and depression, and scientists hope new data will help them develop ways to stop brain shrinking.
