A possible breakthrough in the fight against cancer, as researchers from Britain and the Mayo Clinic say they have cured prostate tumors in mice using a human vaccine.

The vaccine works by encouraging the immune system to rid itself of prostate tumors without assistance from other treatments such as chemo and radiation.  The researchers hope this finding could one day help people live tumor free with fewer side effects.

The finding are published in the journal “Nature Medicine.”
