Housecall for Health: Drug Shortage

This may not be a new problem, but experts are concerned about current drug shortages.

FOX’s Karlie Pouliot reports in today’s “Housecall for Health”…

Hospitals across the country are feeling the pinch from a growing shortage of medications.  This isn’t a new problem, but experts are worried because the number of drugs in short supply has tripled over the last five years.

A record 211 medications were listed as “unavailable” in 2010, and another 89 drug shortages occurred in the first three months of this year.  As a result, the FDA has asked some foreign companies to ship their own version of some scarce drugs that aren’t normally sold here.
