World Cup Fever!
The World Cup is in full swing in South Africa, with teams beginning their 2nd set of group-stage games (each team will play the 3 other teams in their group, the top 2 teams advancing to the Round of 16).
Teams are digging in at training sessions, working hard to prepare for the games ahead…though FOX News Radio’s Courtney Kealy, in Johannesburg, tells us some players have a trick up their sleeve…
The US National Team, meanwhile, is getting set for tomorrow’s (Friday) crucial Group C encounter with Slovenia. The U.S. may have more experience (this is only Slovenia’s 2nd World Cup appearance, the U.S.’s 9th) and a much larger fan base to choose from (by about 305 million people…Slovenia is the smallest nation in the tournament with a population of approx. 2 million people, roughly equal to Houston, Texas), but Slovenia holds the advantage of leading the Group, having beaten Algeria (1-0) in their opener. Both teams got their first looks at the field inside Jo’burg’s 55,000-seat Ellis Park Stadium during today’s training, and questions about who will be ready to play are being answered. FOX News Radio’s Courtney Kealy has this preview of the match…
