Keep Your Holier Than Thou Attitudes To Yourself, Please
I finally sent an “unsubscribe” to a e-mail list I had been on for years. What is interesting is that I used to see pretty much eye to eye with much of the what the group stood for.
But then I either got a little less uptight or they got a whole lot more uptight. But I just couldn’t take them anymore.
Why? Because of their holier than thou attitude towards everything.
Their latest press release was the silliest thing I had ever seen. It was an overly long and boring commentary on why Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson died through their own lifestyles.
No sign of sadness or support for the families of the deceased. Just a finger being wagged in our faces–better behave!! Better be good people or you, too, can die prematurely!!
They went as far as criticizing Farrah’s “lust inducing” bikini pictures of old. HAHA. Lust inducing!! Those sinful posters that millions of young men hung on their walls and lockers! SHAME!! Oh the SHAME!!
See? God punishes us for living like Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.
Except I DON’T BELIEVE THAT FOR A SECOND!
How do you explain a good friend of ours informing us yesterday that his wife and son both died in a tragic, freakish car accident while on vacation? These were the NICEST people you could ever hope to meet. They would give you their own bedroom if you needed a place to sleep. They didn’t have a lot of money, but they worked harder than most people I know. They were good, God fearing people who never hurt a flea. Nor did they “punish” their bodies, as the above mentioned press release insists Fawcett and Jackson were so guilty of. They didn’t “pop pills” or…GASP…pose for bikini posters.
Why did THEY die?? Did God get bored just punishing the likes of Fawcett and Jackson?
I am so sad that my friend’s family died like that. So horrible it is almost beyond comprehension.
But I also feel a sense of relief in no longer being subject to messages from a loony organization that purports to speak for conservatives everywhere.
No, thanks. You can keep your self righteous, holier than thou attitude to yourselves now.
I won’t lend my ears to it ever again.
