How 11 Athletes Overcame Challenges To Become Stars

The Wall Street Journal’s Greg Zuckerman joined Kilmeade & Friends to discuss his new book, “Rising Above: How 11 Athletes Overcame Challenges in Their Youth to Become Stars.” Zuckerman explained how bringing his sons along on all of the interviews for the book helped reveal a different side to the athletes which comes through in his writing.

Zuckerman said the main goal of the book is to help inspire and motivate young people and their parents and show them they can overcome physical obstacles and personal tragedies and still achieve success. Among the stories Zuckerman shared of athletes who overcame disabilities is former Major League pitcher Jim Abbott who was born without a right hand and went to become a big league pitcher who threw a no-hitter with the New York Yankees, as well as CY Young award winner R.A. Dickey, basketball player Serge Ibaka and NBA MVP’s Stephen Curry & LeBron James.
