Ohio Republican Congressman and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain why he would like to see the Supreme Court ultimately rule in favor of the Trump administration in a landmark case about birthright citizenship.

“The idea that you can just come here illegally and have a child and suddenly that child is now a citizen, I just think doesn’t make sense. And again, the context is so different from 19th century America, where we’re fixing the evil of slavery and passing the 14th Amendment. It’s completely different today. And frankly, even the language in the 14 Amendment says, if you come here and do this and you’re subject to the jurisdiction thereof, then this amendment applies. Someone who enters the country illegally is not subject to the jurisdiction thereof. I think those words are key, and this is part of the amicus brief that we filed with the court. We will see what the court says, but I mean, it’s common sense, for goodness sake. And I thought, I listened to some of the argument from Solicitor General Sauer. I thought he did a good job in laying it all out. We’ve had him as a witness in our committee before. I thought I did a great job, but we’ll see what court decides.”
