Florida Republican Senator Rick Scott joins Fox Across Ameria With guest host Rich Zeoli to explain why lawmakers have been unable to agree on legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security.
“So here’s where we are. Let’s think about what happened. We should never have allowed the Democrats to separate out Homeland Security without all the other funding we did back in January. It should never have happened. I was completely opposed to it. It didn’t make any sense. We allowed the Democrats to have all their earmarks, get all the stuff that they wanted because it was supposedly bipartisan. And then we didn’t fund Homeland Security, and what did we think was going to happen? This is exactly what we should have anticipated was going happen. They don’t want to fund ICE. They do not want to fund border security. They don’t care about the safety of Americans. So this is, and by the way, I don’t believe they’re ever going to come and fund ICE and border patrol. So what’s our option now? Our only option is go back to D.C., get rid of the filibuster, and pass things with 50 votes. That’s what it takes. And let J.D., if we can’t get 51, let J.D. block the ties. But we gotta go pass Homeland Security funding. We gotta pass SAVE America. We gotta just go through what are the things that Trump ran on and pass all of them with a simple majority. I mean, the Democrats are never, ever, ever going to work with us. They didn’t work with on nominations. We had to pass that last year. So we gotta come to our senses. They are evil.”
