Florida Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R) joins FOX Across America With Jimmy Failla to discuss why he decided to run for the Governor’s mansion in his state, react to the attacks from current Governor Ron DeSantis, and weigh in on the early accomplishments of President Trump’s second term in the White House.
“At the end of the day, that’s what elections are about. People have to choose, you know, their leaders. And I think that. Look, I don’t really. The governor and I’ll have an opportunity to kind of square a lot of this stuff out and that’ll be fine. But I think for people in Florida and I mean, definitely, you know, your, your, your listeners, Jimmy, they know about me. But I think, you know, to be a little bit more detailed. You know, when I got into the state legislature back in 2016, I filed the first bill of its kind in the country that allowed parents and community members to be able to examine the instructional materials that were in front of kids. I did that back in 2016, 2017, I got that passed into law. Rick Scott was governor at the time he signed it. And so, you know, this battle about getting the woke and indoctrination out of our kids classrooms. I was at the beginning of that fight when Rick Scott was governor, signed that into law. I passed into law one of the largest expansions of school choice up until that time, with the Hope scholarship. I did that in 2017, and I think it’s that that got signed into law, if I remember correctly. No, no, actually Rick Scott was still governor when I got signed into law. And then so like I’ve been involved in these battles a long time and of course, in Washington, you know, it’s about getting a message across to the entire country. That’s why I go on Fox across America with my man. You want to get the information to the people. And that’s what it’s about. You. Everybody works hard. You know? I just stay in my lane. Everybody stays in their lane. And we just work hard. It’s about the country. It’s about the people. I’m glad we’re being successful right now and there’s going to be more successes to come.”
