Cynthia Erivo to Play Jesus Christ

A black queer woman is set to play Jesus Christ in the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

Black and self-proclaimed queer actress Cynthia Erivo has been tapped to play Jesus Christ himself in the Hollywood Bowl production of the hit musical “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

Erivo is best known for her role as the Wicked Witch in the latest “Wicked” film.

Now look, I think Erivo is a talented actress and this is nothing against her personally, but it is rather odd and historically inaccurate in many ways for a black queer woman to depict Jesus Christ.

If a white straight man were tapped to play a black lesbian character, the uproar from the woke crowd would be deafening! 

While I understand “Jesus Christ Superstar” is a musical for entertainment and not necessarily a biographical or religious production, I still wonder why making a mockery of Christianity always gets a pass. 

This seems to be yet another attempt to dig at the Christian faith and while most Christians just take it on the chin, it’s getting a little old!
