Congressman Tom Suozzi (D-NY-3) spoke to Brian Kilmeade about the mixed reaction he got from his party after he wrote a NY Times essay on working with Donald Trump when possible. Suozzi explained how some of the far left, more extreme people in his party were upset and don’t want him to make deals. Conversely, Suozzi said a lot of normal people on the streets reached out to him and said his editorial was great and feels overall the reactions have been very positive. Suozzi did say that he will fight President Trump when he disagrees with him as he did last time such as getting rid of the Affordable Care Act and deporting Dreamers but pointed out he also supported Trump moving the American embassy to Jerusalem and the Abraham Accords.
On voting for the Laken Riley Act in the House, Suozzi said that Democrats should embrace the idea of deporting criminals, secure the border and fix the asylum system while also giving Dreamers a path to citizenship. Suozzi believes Democrats and Republicans should stop fighting each other and fight our common enemy, organized crime cartels and coyotes that are making billions of dollars by abusing people coming across the border. When asked if more Democrats should have spoken up about President Biden’s cognitive decline, Suozzi said he was not going to speak against President Biden.
