One-on-One With RFK Jr.
Independent 2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been vocal about institutional obstacles his campaign has faced in reaching 2024 voters. He wants to debate the two frontrunners and earn his way onto state ballots across the country. While the Kennedy campaign has attempted to frame his candidacy as a viable third option, the Trump and Biden campaigns have been aggressive in labeling him as either an “anti-vaxxer” or a “radical leftist.” Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. joins the Rundown to set the record straight and discuss efforts to get his name on the ballot in 2024. Later, he discusses his plan to curb drug addiction in America and what he would do differently if he were in charge of the U.S. immigration system.
This week, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy called for social media companies to issue mental health warnings on their platforms. He argues that a warning would be a step in the right direction toward protecting minors’ mental health. Research shows that American teenagers spend an average of nearly five hours on social media daily. Dr. Murthy says there have been successes with similar warnings on tobacco products in reducing smoking in the United States. Director of the Tech Policy Center at The Heritage Foundation, Kara Frederick, joins to discuss how social media has evolved and how harmful algorithms are for developing brains.
