Lawmakers Push Bipartisan TikTok Bill: ‘Divest From Chinese Ownership, Or Get Banned’
Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are demanding TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, sell the social media app to an American owner or be banned in the United States. The House will vote on the “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act” later this week, and teens are now calling their representatives in protest. This is not the first time Congress has proposed such legislation, but it’s inching closer to being passed, with President Biden saying he will sign the bill if it makes it to his desk.
