Co-host of “The Big Money Show” on Fox Business Taylor Riggs joins Fox Across America With guest host Paul Gleiser to explain why many Americans are not experiencing the financial relief from President Biden’s economic policies, despite what members of his administration claim.
“The hard data is very different from the soft data. So the hard data is what you’re looking at. All of the unemployment numbers come in and they look good, but the soft data is what people feel. Sentiment wise, how do people feel on the ground? And those two I think right now are some of the biggest differences that we haven’t seen in a long time. I would also say that the market is not the economy. So when the stock market goes up, we feel good because our 401Ks look good, but the stock market is not the economy. And frankly, that goes both ways because you have presidents in the past, even President Trump said the stock market’s so great under me. But if it’s different than what people feel for the economy, then you need to be careful using the stock market as the measure of how well you’re doing in the presidency. And so I think the markets are going up because the fundamental economy looks good. Unemployment is low, and for the most part, people are adding jobs. But that’s what the data is saying. But very different from how people feel. People still go to the grocery store and grocery prices are higher than they were in 2019. They still go to the gas station, and even though gas prices have come down, guess what? They’re still higher than 2019. Credit card debt is the highest that it’s ever been. So you have people, living paycheck to paycheck, putting all of that money on a credit card debt. That isn’t being reflected in the numbers that we’re seeing from big government when they’re coming out with their statistics on economics. And that’s not yet being reflected in the stock market. But that doesn’t mean that those feelings of what those people are going through are not very much real and should not be validated as well.”
