McCarthy had this to say about the significance of Mark Meadow’s recent immunity grant:

If the reporting that we’re hearing is correct, he is saying that Trump knew or at least was told from the beginning that there was not material fraud that could have changed the result of the election. I’m not a big fan of Jack Smith’s case on election interference, but if he is going to succeed in that case, critical to it is proving that Trump knew what he was saying about the stolen election was false. So in that sense, Meadows could be a very important witness for Smith.
