Martha MacCallum: How King Charles III Will Carry On The Remarkable Legacy Of Queen Elizabeth II

Host of “The Story” Martha MacCallum joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to share some of her takeaways from King Charles III’s first speech since the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

“Charles talked about the affection and guidance that she gave them and that they had for her and his grief and gratitude for his mother, and recognizing the deep loss that he feels. But he also said that my mother promised that whether her life be short or long, it would all be devoted to the service of the country. And that is a promise of lifelong service that I renew today, he said. And so he’s saying to the country, I will be in service to you for, I think he put it, for whatever days God grants me. So he’s clearly saying that he wants to continue that life of service and putting the country before himself in the way that his mother did. And I think she laid that groundwork very carefully. That’s why they talked about the crown and not about the person, because the crown passes on, and it is supposed to create this kind of stability in a culture and tradition for the country that’s separate from politics. And I also thought it was interesting that he said, some of my charities that I’ve cared deeply about, I won’t have time for them anymore. I’m going to pass them on to other people. Because I think that was almost his way of saying, some of the issues that I’ve kind of aligned myself with, I will separate from those because they may have some political connotations in some ways in the way they’re perceived. And now I’m about sort of this larger purpose of the country.”

Martha also talks about when we can expect King Charles’ coronation to take place. Listen to the podcast to hear what else he had to say!
