“Trigger Laws” Latest Front In Abortion Battle
Following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade which gave individual states to decide the power to determine the legality of abortion, several states will now ban the process altogether. Arkansas is one of those states, prohibiting abortion with the only exception being if the mother’s life is at stake. Governor Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) joins the Rundown to explain how the issue will be handled in his state, and what he’s doing to support expectant mothers during this time. He also shares his thoughts on bipartisan gun safety legislation and discusses a potential campaign in the 2024 presidential election.
In 2015, a high school football coach in Bremerton, Washington lost his job after refusing the school district’s requests that he stop praying on the football field after each game. After seven years, the Supreme Court took up his case and ruled in his favor, with the High Court ruling that the coach’s actions were protected under the First Amendment.
