Will Cain said,
“So first, there’s something about not just this movie, but this setting that really seemed to capture the essence of baseball. I talked to Alex Rodriguez yesterday, guy, and he really put it into words, this field that was dug out of a corn field, which one time was a movie set, but also at one time a real family farm just feels like baseball and you feel like you’re in the movie and you’re going to reenact it. I mean, throughout the day, I’ve walked into the corn fields like I’m disappearing. I had a catch, you know, on the diamond. And this is the kind of thing that I think MLB should be embracing. Yeah, Yankees, White Sox tonight, 7:00 p.m. on a separate field, quite honestly, one hundred yards away from the original movie set because they had to make a real stadium with an eight thousand person seat grandstand. But here’s the thing. I’d like to see more of it. I’d like to see Knicks Lakers at Rucker Park in Harlem. I’d like to see, I don’t know, professional football played at a high school football stadium, not in Texas, because our high school football stadiums are basically professional football stadium. So you have to go someplace more quaint. But, man, it’s something about getting back to the essence and the basic nature of the sport. And I think that’s what this event really, really symbolizes.”
