Kmele Foster: Most Americans Hate Race Essentialism

Kmele Foster, Co-Host of the Fifth Column podcast & partner at Freethink joined Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson Show to discuss critical race theory and the race based hysteria on both sides of the political spectrum.

Kmele Foster said,
“I think in many instances, flummoxed by the outrage that they are seeing on the right, like we aren’t having productive conversations about these issues. And I think that there is a general hysteria in the country right now. It’s an area that perhaps began on the left when people were saying beginning about 13, 14 months ago, things like, oh, my God, there’s a genocide on black people. The police are trying to it’s open season on black men. That is obviously absurd and hysterical, pretty much the same way. I think there is a prevailing sense among many conservatives and it’s being advanced by some conservative activists that there is this broad and focused campaign on the left to indoctrinate all of our kids and to to push the most ugly forms of critical race theory into every classroom in America and to have, you know, this new order of racial equity. And I think that is that is similarly hysterical.”

Foster added,
“I think we’re going to have a hard time actually confronting those ideas if we can’t be honest about one, the degree to which this is actually a concern and two the degree to which, like, this is really good news guy, I want to be sure that I get this right. Most Americans hate race essentialism on the left and the right. Most Americans believe in the kind of fundamental ideas that we borrowed from or that we inherited from Dr. Martin Luther King. The notion that people ought to be judged by the content of their character and that race isn’t the most important thing about who we are. And I think that’s really important to keep in mind.”
