Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) joined Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson Show to give an update on the ongoing bipartisan talks in Washington over infrastructure. Over the weekend President Biden walked back an implied veto threat on a bipartisan infrastructure deal unless Congress passed a separate measure that included additional democratic priorities.
Senator John Barrasso said,
“Well, the first thing you said you’re not sure where the White House is on this, anybody is following this closely has by now gotten a bad case of whiplash. And I’m a doctor and I can make that diagnosis. So let’s go run through what what happened. First, the president goes out with a bipartisan group praising a bipartisan deal on what is much more true infrastructure than this pie in the sky proposal of the Democrats. So it really is much more along the line of roads and bridges and ports and airports and waterways. But two hours later, he basically buckled under the pressure from Pelosi and Schumer. So that’s when he said he was going to threaten to veto it if it wouldn’t include this seven trillion dollar socialist wish list. So then a couple of days later, after he is heard from the Republicans and Democrats who worked with him on this deal, he then changed his mind again. So I don’t even know if the White House is sure where they are on this or if the president is sure. To me, he’s like a weathervane who’s going to change directions based on the sounds of the loudest voices that he hears. And this is a perpetual problem with this administration.”
