Jim Gray On President George W. Bush’s 2001 World Series Pitch
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, legendary sportscaster Jim Gray talks to Jimmy about how President George W. Bush’s historic World Series pitch at Yankee Stadium was put together and his book Talking To GOATS.
“Bud Selig suggested that the Yankees portion of the games not be played in New York. And President Bush thought that was a horrible idea. And also, they wanted him to throw out the first pitch at Game One in Arizona. And President Bush said, if I’m throwing out the first pitch for the World Series, it’s going to be in New York or we’re not going to do it. But just the dignified, courageous actions of that day and leadership of President Bush and it had nothing to do with politics.”
