Josh Kraushaar: Cunningham Sex Scandal Probably Made A ‘Big’ And ‘Decisive Difference’ In North Carolina Senate Race

Josh Kraushaar, Politics Editor at National Journal & Fox News Radio Political Analyst spoke with Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson about the news that north Carolina senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) won reelection over his challenger Cal Cunningham (D). Kraushaar broke down that the win means for republican control of the U.S Senate and how Cunningham’s sex scandal affected the outcome of the race. Saying,

“Let’s talk quickly about the polling, because that’s a race where you noted that almost every single poll had Cal Cunningham ahead. And, you know, when you rely too much on the polls, I think sometimes you almost miss the fundamentals and the fact that you had a Democrat, but not a lot of people were familiar with. And Cal Cunningham, he was a one term former state senator, didn’t have a whole lot of experience, but not much of a political profile. And yet he was consistently winning in the state and people were spending lots of money in North Carolina. And it turned out that he may not have been quite as popular as advertised. And it turned out that that sex scandal that he dealt with in the final months of the campaign probably made a big and decisive difference in the race.”
