Kim Strassel: Trump Needs To Make This Election About A Choice Rather Than A Referendum On His Leadership

Kim Strassel, Potomac Watch columnist for Wall Street Journal spoke with Fox News Radio’s Guy Benson about the first presidential debate. Strassel said,

“So here’s what I think Donald Trump needs to do and will try to accomplish, which is to make this debate. Use it to make this election about a choice rather than a referendum on his leadership. Because that’s what Joe Biden needs to do. That’s what he’s going to try to do. He’s going to talk about the Donald Trump’s handling of the Corona virus and say it was a failure. He’s going to say he is lacking in moral character. He’s going to say that we have been in dark times since the president took office and say, This is all about a referendum on Trump. If you want more of that, vote for him. But if you don’t vote for me, Donald Trump needs to make it about the differences between their policies. He needs to remind Americans what he did then, especially with the economy prior to the virus hitting. I need to talk about deregulation. He needs to talk about his tax policy and he needs to talk about Biden’s policies, which, let’s be honest, have not had nearly enough attention to date.”
