Former New York Police Commissioner Howard Safir called in to the Brian Kilmeade Show to react to the ongoing unrest in New York and around the country. The former commissioner believes some municipalities, including New York City, are preventing their officers from effectively responding to increasing levels of violence and looting.

“I just don’t see the police reacting in the assertive manner that they need to, to send a signal,” Safir said. “I believe that they are being restrained. I heard [Mayor Bill DeBlasio] say it this morning. I heard the mayor talk more about scrutinizing the actions of police officers this morning than I did about supporting the NYPD and letting them do what they know how to do,” he continued.
