Defense Production Act Coordinator Peter Navarro called in to the Brian Kilmeade Show to explain how the Trump administration is ramping up the production and distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) and essential medicines.

“We’re going to have the distribution centers maintain larger inventories. That builds a more effective stockpile,” he said. “As we build our domestic capacity to make our PPE and medicines, we’re also going to have key companies that we are going to invite to have excess capacity, essentially reserve capacity, that we can fire up when we need to meet surge demand,” Navarro added.

When asked if he had seen the plan the Obama administration had left behind on how to deal with a pandemic, Navarro said he had not, but added, “We did inherit from the previous administration a stockpile that was antiquated and inadequate.”
