Rep. Matt Gaetz: We Should Pass Legislation So Americans Can Sue China For Damages
On Fox Across America with Jimmy Failla, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) explains why he agrees with Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) wanting to pass legislation to let Americans sue the Chinese government in the aftermath of COVID-19.
“Here’s what every American should ask themselves. What excuse does China have for having held the sequencing of this virus for 10 days? The Wuhan Institute of Virology, either conspicuously or miraculously, is the first to sequence this virus on January 2nd and they don’t tell the world what that sequence until January 12th. Those 10 days would have been critical for us to be able to get a head start, figure out the type of reagents, compounds, testing apparatus we would need. And instead, they were selfish about it, tried to get as much PPE as they could for their own country, and then that resulted in negative consequences around the world. One good consequence is we should take up and pass the legislation that my colleague Dan Crenshaw has offered to hold hold them liable where Americans who suffer from this Chinese flu can actually sue China for the damages caused by yet.”
