Rep. Josh Gottheimer: Time For “Aggressive Measures” To Take Care Of Local Businesses
On FOX Across America with Jimmy Failla, Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) discussed what he and other Congressmen on both sides need to do to make sure local business owners are taken care of.
“We have to take care of people and stop the spread of the virus, and that has to be our paramount goal. We’re seeing in Italy now, the death rates are astronomical. t’s really off the charts. And they were slow to act in certain parts of their country where they should have shut things down. You see that other parts of the world have been very aggressive and in other parts of the United States, and other part of the United States right now, United say right now the virus is not hit yet in the same way it’s hit my district in northern New Jersey, in New York and other cities, L.A. and other places. And I hope to God that what we’re doing right now, by keeping people the social distancing and keeping people home and shutting down certain businesses will help stay that off so they never have to experience it. It’s hard to know the right answer, except that we’ve got to protect people and stop the spread. That’s why it’s essential for us as lawmakers to make sure that we step in and take care of our businesses so they can survive, take care of our workers so they can survive through this. It’s going to take a lot of aggressive measures and bold measures.”
