Rep. Matt Gaetz: I Wore A Gas Mask To Show How Congress Will “Feel The Impact” Of Coronavirus
In one of his first interviews since testing negative for the coronavirus during his self-quarantine, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) discussed why he wore a gas mask on the floor of Congress and reacted to the news that Sen. Bernie Sanders is staying in the race for the Democratic nomination for President.
“I do think that there are personal habits that we’ve got to alter. I went and wore a gas mask for floor of the Congress, basically to make the point to my colleagues in the Congress, we’re going to see an impact from this because we travel to the dirtiest airports, we touch everyone we meet, we take a ton of selfies. We engage in a lot of the activities that health officials say maybe to refrain from. And so I predict that there will be impact in the Congress, in the Senate, where people will interact with this virus. And I’m just hopeful that our scientific community is able to develop therapeutics and vaccines so that we’re able to manage it as best we can.”
“(Biden’s) in like the ‘please clap’ portion of his candidacy. When we see Joe Biden and Donald Trump split screen, with just the life and energy of President Trump and the rallies and the way that a movement has been created around American nationalism, and then you have Joe Biden, like just kind of stumbling between apologies for his last voting record, for Hillary, for deporting people in the Obama administration, for the crime bill, the Iraq war was a mistake. It’s going to be the Joe Biden apology tour against the Donald Trump march to victory.”
