Senator Tom Cotton On Elizabeth Warren Impugning Jeff Sessions: I Wish the Democrats Would Accept the Fact That They Lost the Election
U.S. Senator of Arkansas Tom Cotton joined Kilmeade and Friends this morning to discuss his new immigration bill which is being introduced this week. The “Raise Act” will “restore historical legal immigration levels and give working Americans a fair shot”. The RAISE Act, which gets its name from the acronym “reforming American immigration for strong employment”, plans to raise American workers’ wages by reducing overall immigration by half and to retain immigration preferences for the spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents. Listen to the full interview below to hear more about the Raise Act and what Senator Cotton thinks about the Senate’s confirmation of Trump’s cabinet being the slowest in modern history.
Senator Cotton on Elizabeth Warren being forbidden from participating in the floor debate over Jeff Sessions’ nomination ahead of a confirmation vote expected later today:
I was back to the Senate floor in time to cast the votes that would hold Senator Warren accountable under the Senate rules for impugning the character of Jeff Sessions, which is impeccable and is one reason why he’ll be confirmed later today as our Attorney General. It’s regrettable that Senator Warren is personalizing this dispute and that now Democrats are continuing to personalize it as well. It’s fine that we have policy disagreements, I wish the democrats would accept the fact that they lost the election and quit trying to gum up the works of the Senate and confirm Donald Trump’s cabinet, or at least let us have votes on them, but there’s no need to make these things personal the way they’ve done.
On Senator John McCain saying a raid in Yemen that resulted in the death of Chief Special Warfare Operator William “Ryan” Owens was a failure:
Mission success is not determined by casualty raids. My heart breaks for Chief Owens and his family and some of the other casualties. However they had a mission to obtain certain intelligence. They achieved that, and I suspect Chief Owens if he were still with us today would say that they had mission success.
