Fox News Anchor Chanley Painter joins Fox Across America With guest host Paul Gleiser to share her thoughts on the evidence presented by the prosecution in the closing arguments of Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial.
“I thought the prosecutor did an excellent job of giving the jury a clear path forward. Here’s what the evidence shows, and here’s how you can find her guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of first degree murder. And they pointed to the deliberate actions and choices she made that day. Not only was she able to take her five-year-old to the doctor that day, The doctor or pediatrician saw no signs or red flags whatsoever. She was texting and communicating with people as a normal person would. She sent her husband away. She googled a restaurant that was quite a bit of ways. She mapped out how long exactly it would take for her husband to go pick up dinner. Also send him to a CVS to pick up some medicine before coming home. She knew how much time she had by herself at home with the children. And She claims that she heard an auditory command hallucination, which is someone, a voice telling her, you have to kill your children now and then take your own life. She claims, that was the first time she heard that voice in her head. And it’s the only time since she’s heard that in her head. And so the prosecution’s argument is that, okay, this is the first time you’ve heard this voice commanding you to take your children’s lives and she did not hesitate to obey the voice. The voice was very vague. It didn’t tell her how to take her children’s lives or when. She immediately did what it said, and she chose how to do it the order of the babies to take down the stairs into the basement. And those deliberate willful actions that took an hour they say is the pre-planning, the premeditation, that was her choice, she knew what she was doing and therefore under the law should be held accountable.”
