Retired NYPD inspector Paul Mauro joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to shed light on the next steps for captured Venezuelan dictator Nicholas Maduro after he pleaded not guilty to all four charges against him during an initial court appearance in New York City on Monday.

“I think this one is going to be longer, unless something really surprising occurs, which could happen here because it’s such an unprecedented case. For instance, you never know as far as what Intel he has. Who knows? He may try to trade, let’s say for a lighter sentence, or even for a light sentence for his wife. He has kid as well. The kid’s indicted. He’s not in custody. He has a couple of cards to play. This is a guy who probably has Intel relative to trainer. Russia, Iran, the whole Caribbean basin, Cuba, Colombia, he can give up a ton, Mexico. He does have some cards to play, but short of that, I think that because of the complexity of the operation and how long the history goes back, I mean, his lawyer himself said it today in court that we expect this to be complex and voluminous. So now I think there’s a long timeline on this one, even though, you know, we used to federal court taking a long time in cases that we’ve seen like Diddy and so on. This one, I think is if in fact it goes all the way to trial, we’re not going to see him in court on trial for at least I would say a couple of years.”
