California GOP gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain why he is confident voters in the Golden State are tired of the old guard and ready to embrace a new playbook in 2026.
“Look, if you keep doing the same thing, you get the same results. And it is changing. I mean, I’m literally in one of those pockets right now. I’m on the road that we’re driving up the five freeway. We’re just going through Bakersfield and so that, and that’s going more and more in the Republican direction, the whole of the Central Valley, actually, actually. But across the state, there’s some really encouraging signs, right? And right now, I was just looking at the data for the last two years now, very solid, large majority saying the state’s going in the wrong direction, the wrong track, whatever question they ask, 65%, even 60% of independents. Now you may say, who’s the 30 odd percent who think California is going in the right direction, but whatever, I’ll take it. 65% for change in California. 10 counties flipped from blue to red last time out of 58. You know, I’m not saying this is going to be easy. I never say that. It’s definitely, you got this big Democrat machine, corruptly funded by the government unions. All of that is true. But we really, if we put forward, as is what I’m doing, a strong, clear, positive, common-sense alternative to bring gas prices down, cut your electricity bills, make it so that you can afford to buy your own home, like you used to be able to do in California, I think people will go for it. I really believe we can pull this off.”
