REAL ID FREAK OUT!

The internet is going berserk over the REAL ID deadline and it’s ridiculous.

There is a bipartisan social media freakout underway over the approaching May 7th REAL ID deadline and I’m still befuddled as to why…

The REAL ID requirements were passed in 2005 when George W Bush was in office.

The deadline to be REAL ID compliant has been pushed back FOUR TIMES SO FAR!

In Tennessee I needed to show proof of US citizenship, my social security card, and two proofs of Tennessee residency like a utility bill or a pay stub or current bank statement. 

None of those things should be hard to produce!

But now people are panicking because they won’t be able to board a domestic flight without it come May 7. Important to note you can also show a passport, by the way. 

So yeah, this is probably gonna cause a headache at the TSA line but it’s because people are lazy and have put this off for YEARS!

This is not the “surveillance state” at work. This is now “Orwellian.”

This is some pretty basic stuff here, people.
