Senior White House Correspondent Jacqui Heinrich Weighs in on “Slippery Slope” of Allowing the White House to Determine Press Pool
Jacqui Heinrich, Senior Fox News White House Correspondent, joined The Guy Benson Show today to react to the media’s manufactured outrage over Elon Musk attending a cabinet meeting–despite Jill Biden literally leading one in the last administration. They also discussed the upcoming U.S.-Ukraine meeting this Friday and the potential mineral and economic deal on the table between the two nations. Heinrich also weighed in on the White House’s controversial move to take control of the press pool from the WHCA, raising concerns about potential politicization, and addressed critiques from Ari Fleischer and others on media balance in today’s press corps. Heinrich had this to say on the controversial move to take control of the press pool away from the WHCA:
“When they start picking the pool and limiting who can go in, it’s a very slippery slope because while this might benefit, you know, conservative voices under this administration, imagine when a Democrat comes into office and says, you know what? We don’t think that anyone who’s been critical of us or comes from a conservative leaning outlet, should have access to these events… We’ve got a rotation set up. It took decades to really perfect this. So it’s just that it’s a risk that this decision could be weaponized by a future administration, even if the Trump administration executes it perfectly. It sets a precedent where if the press isn’t determining, you know, who goes in and that’s a White House decision… it could cut both ways in the future.
