Jamie Metzl, former National Security Council official in the Clinton Administration told Brian Kilmeade he has no problem with the U.S. playing a role in the ending of the Russia, Ukraine war. Metzl says we need to give President Trump the benefit of the doubt as the negotiations continue. Metzl believes we need to have legitimate security guarantees for Ukraine and make absolutely clear to Putin, if you take another step anywhere, not just in Ukraine, but in the Baltics and all these other places where you’re trying to sow division, we are 100% with and behind our NATO allies.

Metzl also discussed the controversy over DOGE. Metzl agrees with Elon Musk that our government is ballooning in size and we do need to make cuts but has concerns that Congress is not playing a role in empowering DOGE and nobody knows who they are and what they are doing. Metzl pointed to an analysis on the perceived savings that show that 40% of the cuts made so far won’t have any impact on the deficit. Metzl believes if we want to have a serious plan to limit our deficit, we need to do it in a in a structured way and not done by a bunch of young kids tapping into our systems.
