From Washington: Are Tariff Fears Overblown?
This week, President Trump announced a plan to increase tariffs to match other countries’ tax rates on imports. The President says tariffs are a tool that can help negotiate better trade deals with foreign nations and ease Americans’ tax burden. However, others are concerned that this could result in higher prices for American consumers and reduce demand for American exports. Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation’s Center for the Federal Budget EJ Antoni explains why many tariff fears are overblown and details how they can be beneficial if implemented correctly.
