Goodbye, Red Dye
The FDA bans red food dye due to potential cancer risk.
I’m Tomi Lahren, more next.
Some of the dyes, additives, and preservatives allowed in OUR food are banned in other countries but with the newly announced ban on red dye #3, the USA is finally taking this seriously.
Food manufacturers have until January of 2027 to remove red dye #3 from their products. This applies to any food imported into the US, as well.
This FDA ban also extends to dietary supplements and ingested medicines.
This particular dye is synthetic and made from petroleum. It’s used to give food and other products their bright cherry red color and while that might look pretty, evidence in lab rats suggests it could cause cancer.
The dye was removed from cosmetics 35 years ago due to that risk which begs the question, WHY did it take so long for the FDA to ban it in our food?
According to “Food Scores” database, Nearly 3,000 foods have been shown to contain it!
I’m not a government ban type of gal, but this is long overdue!
We shouldn’t be eating, drinking or ingesting toxic dyes, period!
