Chair of the Center for Education Opportunity at the America First Policy Institute Erika Donalds joins Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla to explain why the incoming Trump administration should use the state of Florida as a roadmap for how the quality of our education system can be improved nationwide.

“I actually served on the school board and that’s how I got into education. I call it my questionable life decision. I was in investment management for 20 years before that, but I discovered through that that the system is entirely broken. Yes, there’s a curriculum crisis. Yes, there is a teacher preparation crisis. But that’s not the bigger issue. The bigger issue is that we have a monopoly and monopolies do what they do. They don’t serve their customers very well and they don’t serve students and parents very well. And so my passion is around expanding school choice, giving parents the ability to vote with their feet because we know that the free market and competition actually increases quality for everyone and access for everyone. And that’s what Florida is doing really the best, in my opinion, in expanding universal school choice. But we need to see that in more states around the country and frankly, even some things federally that Trump has promised to do. We may see some expansion of school choice through that as well.”
