An American Trapped In Afghanistan

Ryan Corbett, an American businessman, moved to Afghanistan in 2010 with his family and became actively involved in the community. In August 2022, he, along with several others, was captured and detained by the Taliban after returning to the Middle East to renew his business visa and pay his employees. Since then, his wife, Anna Corbett, has been advocating for his release and pleading with the Biden administration for assistance. Anna joined the Rundown to share Ryan’s story, describe her efforts to secure her husband’s release, and express her hopes for the incoming administration.

The President-elect’s pick for Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday, and while some of the hearing dealt with his past and ability to lead the department, the issue of military readiness was also a major point in the proceeding. Multiple senators raised the alarm on recruiting goals, the threat of China, and the ability to respond to aggression from foreign adversaries. Retired Army Colonel Dr. Chris Gibson joins the Rundown to discuss the largest challenges facing America’s military, the threat of China, and what must be done to ensure the military is capable of combating global threats.

Plus, commentary from long-time volunteer firefighter and former FEMA External Affairs Officers, Jason Pack.
