Rubin had this to say on Newsom failing upwards:

“I would say if I give credit to Newsom for one thing, it’s that he, like a cockroach, survives nuclear blasts. This is a guy who survived destroying San Francisco. This is a guy who somehow, when they were basically trying to install him as president before they decided it was Kamala, they put him in that debate with DeSantis. DeSantis completely mangled him. And then he still comes out and pretends that he’s the winner. You know, he gets richer by every failure of California. So I would say at this point, this one might be irreparable because it’s so bad.”
