Katherine Boyle, general partner at Andreessen Horowitz and the co-founder of the firm’s American Dynamism arm joined Brian Kilmeade to discuss the need for our government to encourage tech companies to fast track technologies into the Department of Defense to combat and beat China. Boyle explained how Silicon Valley did a 180 from their mentality back in 2017 where they refused to invest in defense and work with the Department of Defense. Boyle says the change happened particularly since Covid and the war in Ukraine made young engineers realize the importance of defense technology and how it’s not theoretical we could be in a war with China, and have to build better defense systems for the U.S. military. Boyle also spoke about being in an arms race with China and A.I. Boyle believes we need to make sure we fast track technologies into the Department of Defense because China has no qualms telling their best engineers they will work on products that support the government.
Plus, Boyle on how DOGE under the leadership of Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have been making sure that initiatives that are good ideas are actually be brought to the forefront without all of the bells and whistles and pork that are attached to it that dilute a good initiative. Boyle thinks that the incoming Trump administration and DOGE will focus on streamlining good ideas and making sure that we can implement them and actually see results.
