General H.R. McMaster (Ret) , former National Security Advisor during Trump Administration & author of the new book “At War with Ourselves: My Tour of Duty in the Trump White House” joined Brian Kilmeade to discuss the news of the day, including Israel’s preemptive strike in Lebanon, the Russia-Ukraine war and the anniversary of the 13 U.S. service members who were killed during withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. While McMaster does not know exactly how Donald Trump would have handled the withdrawal from Afghanistan, he does believe President Trump put into place the only reasoned, sustainable approach to Afghanistan that we had in the whole course of that war. McMaster pointed to a speech from August 2017 when Trump laid out a different approach without a timeline of withdrawal and having the Afghans bear the brunt of the fight while the US does everything to support them. McMaster also went on to defend General Miley for not resigning over his issues with President Biden’s approach to the withdrawal because Miley’s job is to give the best military advice and not cross the line from giving advice to making policy, adding, nobody elects generals, you want your elected officials to make the policy decisions.
Plus, McMaster explains why it is the right thing to do removing Confederate names from military bases and how the naming was tied into the Jim Crow era.
