DNC Day 3: Can “Coach Walz” Square His Progressive Playbook With Voters?

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz gave the keynote speech on the third day of the Democratic National Convention. Telling personal stories about his family’s personal experience with IVF and his glory days coaching high school football, the DNC sought to paint Walz in a folksy, relatable light. But did the message land with voters, who also heard from members of the Democratic establishment like former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and former President Bill Clinton? As the Harris campaign outlines ambitious and costly policy plans, Governor Walz has made it clear he is in lockstep with the Vice President on these lofty, progressive goals.
