Why America Is Losing Faith In Its Self

A recent FOX News poll shows that Americans are losing confidence in the country’s institutions and becoming less proud of their country. Many blame this trend on the nation’s increasing political polarization. Senior counselor at Center View Partners and president emeritus of Council on Foreign Relations, Richard Haas, joins to discuss why he thinks the country is growing more divided, how teaching history and civics can help us unite, and what inspired his book, The Bill of Obligations.

In May, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, issued a proposal to create a financial incentive for hospitals that meet a quota of low-income patients seeking a kidney transplant. The Biden administration insists that the system is colorblind, but they emphasize that it aims to address racial disparities in American healthcare. Opponents of the plan argue that hospitals may have the discretion to choose which patients are more “deserving” of a transplant. Mark Meredith, a Washington-based correspondent for FOX News, joins to explain how the plan works and its potential impact on patients waiting for a kidney transplant.
