Riley Gaines on the Lia Thomas World Aquatics Ruling: “It Was a Bold First Step… It Is a Victory”

Riley Gaines, OutKick.com Contributor, Host of the Gaines for Girls podcast on OutKick.com, and author of the new book Swimming Against the Current: Fighting for Common Sense in a World That’s Lost its Mind, joined the Guy Benson Show today to share her personal background with transgender swimmer Lia Thomas and how Gaines was snubbed in her own competition with Thomas. Thomas has recently lost a suit against World Aquatics, preventing her from competing alongside other women in elite swimming competitions, and Benson and Gaines discuss. Gaines had this to say on the Lia Thomas ruling:

“I have only seen support on the internet for the judge’s decision. It’s a crazy world that we live in, where we have to have a court ruling on the fact that men and women are different and people applauded. It’s like people are applauding if a judge were to rule that the sun sets in the West. That’s how this feels. But nonetheless, it is a victory.”
