Beers for Bums
The San Francisco Department of Public health has a “Managed Alcohol Program,” AKA beers for bums.

The whole state of California suffers from an addiction, mental health and homeless crisis and it would seem its leaders are doing all they can to keep it that way.
The San Francisco Department of Public health has a program called the “Managed Alcohol Program,” AKA beers for bums.
I kid you not. This program provides a ration of alcohol to those who suffer from alcohol addiction in an effort to keep them off the streets and in a safer environment..
This Managed Alcohol Program was actually conceived during the pandemic as a way to alleviate alcohol withdrawal symptoms the bums were experiencing while cooped up in taxpayer funded hotel accommodations.
It has since expanded to a 20 bed program that operates out of a former hotel and has a $5 million dollar annual budget.
Giving alcohol to alcoholics. What a California solution. That state never ceases to amaze me.
