Sunshine State Social Media Ban
A bi-partisan Florida bill seeks to ban social media for kids under 16

We all know social media is toxic, addictive and damaging, especially for young people.
BUT does the government have a right or a duty to step in?
Well the state of Florida is working to do just that. A bi-partisan bill out of the sunshine state seeks to ban all social media for minors under 16 years old citing it is a “public health threat” and akin to “digital fentanyl.”
Opponents of the plan say it is complete government overreach and may even violate the first amendment constitutional rights of those under 16.
Now look, I agree that social media is problematic and can have disastrous and even deadly impacts on the mental health and wellness of young people BUT when it comes to a government ban, I’m on the fence.
I tend to believe parents and guardians should be the ones to enforce social media restrictions, not big brother government.
Perhaps the solution is more parenting, and not more of the nanny state?
